Do you want the BEST job ever? Want to work with a super passionate and awesome team of hiking guides? Make a positive impact on the lives of others? Off The Beaten Track WA is on the hunt for awesome outdoor enthusiasts to join our team! We are currently recruiting for Expedition Guides, Hike-Ability Guides (midweek), and Guides to run our Perth Day Tours on weekends.
As a Hiking Guide for Off The Beaten Track WA, you are not just leading groups through mesmerising terrains; you are an ambassador for adventure, safety, and environmental stewardship. Your passion for the outdoors, coupled with your extensive knowledge of Western Australia’s diverse landscapes, will bring the beauty and significance of each hike to our participants.
The Lead Guide is the main guide in charge of leading the hike. They will take charge of debriefing and organising members, distributing any equipment when necessary, demonstrating and providing instructions, offering advice on safety measures, and ensuring that activities are conducted in a manner that minimizes risk to participants. As the primary point of contact for participants, the Lead Guide will answer questions and provide insights into local points of interest within a specific region. With a strong sense of direction and extensive guiding experience, the Lead Guide plays a critical role in creating a seamless and enjoyable hiking experience for all participants. Their leadership ensures that each hike is well-coordinated, informative, and safe.
The Support Guide plays an essential role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants by staying at the back of the pack to provide support and encouragement. Known as the Tail-Ender (or Charlie), the Support Guide maintains vital communication with the Lead Guide to ensure everyone is accounted for and no one is left behind. This role is perfect for someone with less experience who is eager to learn the ropes of guiding. The Support Guide offers assistance and motivation to those who may need extra help, making sure that every participant feels supported and confident throughout the hike. This position is ideal for those who are enthusiastic, attentive, and eager to grow their guiding skills.
Our Hike-Ability Guides work throughout the week to offer personalised, one-on-one hikes for individuals with disabilities. At Off The Beaten Track WA, we pride ourselves on accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature. Hike-Ability Guides must have experience working with individuals with disabilities, demonstrating patience, empathy, and adaptability. These guides tailor their approach to meet the unique needs of each participant, providing a safe, enjoyable, and empowering hiking experience. If you have a background in disability work and a passion for the outdoors, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Exceptional customer service skills, the ability to remain level-headed and think on your feet are essential. An eye for photography and multi-day hiking experience are advantageous.
