Tour Description
Take a step back in time as you peddle your way along the Munda Biddi with Off The Beaten Track WA.
You’ll be led through the Jarrahdale State Forrest past farmland and along the old 1890’s timber tramway to the Balmoral POW Camp.
The Balmoral POW site is an interesting piece of WA’s history. Established in 1944 at the start of WWII, it housed 220 Italian Prisoners of War from the North African campaign. The prisoners worked in the forest cutting firewood and lived and worked at the camp. This camp was must stricter than other camps and the workers didn’t interact with the local community. It closed in 1946, at which point prisoners were sent back to Italy.
After exploring the POW camp ruins for yourself, you’ll be rewarded with a delicious morning tea to recharge ready for our return ride back to Jarrahdale.
Enjoy a fun, scenic and peaceful bike ride in the safety of our experienced Mountain Bike Guides on the Jarrahdale Munda Biddi Experience!
This MTB experience is suitable for beginners and kids aged 12 and up with prior bike riding experience.
