Katie’s love for the outdoors has been with her since childhood, growing up hiking the beautiful trails of Cornwall, UK, with her family. Her passion for nature continues to shine through in her role as a hiking guide, where she loves watching guests connect with the wilderness. “Seeing their reactions as they take in new sights and immerse themselves in nature is really special,” she says.
Katie has hiked all over the world, including the breathtaking landscapes of Nepal and Switzerland, and has a particular fondness for guiding family hikes, especially because of her love for little people! She’s also a primary school teacher, sharing her love of nature and outdoor knowledge with students through bush school.
Over the past two years, Katie and her husband have been enjoying hiking sections of the Cape to Cape track, steadily chipping away at it and soaking in the stunning views along the way.
One of her most unforgettable guiding moments was battling gale-force winds with fellow guide Mikey while carefully balancing a tray of champagne flutes during OTBT’s Sparkling Soiree at Point Peron—definitely an adventure!
When she’s not guiding, Katie enjoys cycling with her family, often taking breaks for a well-deserved picnic. Fun fact: she’s also a dancer and a member of an adult jazz troupe!
Her advice for first-time hikers? “Take the time to simply be present and appreciate your surroundings. Often, that’s the most memorable and magical part of the hike.”
