Laura

After a hiking hiatus, Laura rediscovered her love for hiking with OTBT, finding it the perfect way to ease back into hiking. She says, “It was the perfect soft landing back into hiking in WA—I felt so welcomed and supported, and I still do.” What she loves most about OTBT is being part of the supportive and inspiring community created by Tracy and her team. “They make hiking accessible to everyone,” she adds, highlighting the authenticity and positivity of the group.

Laura’s longest hike was the 62km Jatbula Trail in the NT in 2013, and she loves hiking in the Australian bush, especially in Serpentine National Park. Hiking with her son is a major motivation, as she explains, “I have to stay HikeFit so I can keep up with him!” She hopes to inspire more parents and grandparents to hike with their children, and wants to encourage people to focus on what they can do, not what they can’t (yet!).

Walking the Camino de Santiago is her hiking dream, and closer to home, she’s eager to explore the Cape to Cape and more of the Bibbulmun Track. When not hiking, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, cooking up a storm, and hanging out with her dogs and chickens. She is a big nature lover, and loves the sense of achievement from doing hard things – both of which hiking provides endless opportunities for!
