Duration: 2 hours
Statham’s Quarry is another great Perth family friendly trail. This 6.9Km/2-3hr hikes’ biggest feature is the disused Quarry and the ability to explore it from above and below (the kids will love it). The views from the top are impeccable and you will easily spot Perth city in the distance, at ground level the size and structure of the quarry is quite impressive. The trail itself is made up of mostly dirt bush paths and gravel tracks with some loose steep sections and a few little creek crossings which keep things interesting.
If you’re planning on giving this trail a crack, I’d recommend downloading the trail notes from the Shire of Kalamunda website as the trail markers are not clear and few and far between. Referring back to the notes did make it feel like a treasure hunt though, which my kids thought was awesome and added a nice touch!
