Step into the peaceful beauty of Banyowla Regional Park, just a short journey from Perth City. Our Kaarakin Wildlife Experience guided hiking tour is designed for locals travellers seeking to escape the city, reconnect with nature, and experience Australia’s rare and endangered wildlife up close.

This intimate adventure begins at the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, a unique sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and releasing Western Australia’s iconic and endangered, red-tailed and white-tailed black cockatoos.

During this intimate behind-the-scenes tour, you’ll:

  • Meet native Australian animals – black cockatoos, kangaroos, emus, and even dingoes in a safe, guided environment.
  • Step inside Jack’s Interactive Aviary, where playful cockatoos may gently land on your arm for a gumnut treat – a perfect photo moment!
  • Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour led by passionate wildlife carers and learn about Western Australia’s conservation stories.
  • Enjoy a scenic 3 km nature walk through eucalyptus forest, granite outcrops and winter creeks.
  • Pause for refreshments upon elevated boulders overlooking Perth City in the distance.

Throughout your experience, we’ll lace up our boots and head out for a scenic, yet rugged 3 km guided hike through the neighbouring native bushland. With eyes to the sky, we’ll listen for the calls of wild cockatoos and immerse ourselves in the sounds, smells and sights of this beautiful natural environment. We’ll enjoy a signature Off The Beaten Track WA morning tea on a granite outcrop, complete with views of the Perth city skyline.
