The King Jarrah Hike is a scenic full day guided walk through the beautiful jarrah forests of Lane Poole Reserve.
Covering approximately 18km, this experience is less about speed and more about immersion. The trail winds through towering jarrah forest, following historic routes once used during the timber milling era. Early sections include a few short climbs that gently lift you into the landscape, rewarding you with beautiful views across the valley and glimpses of the Murray River below.
From there, the hike flows into a long, peaceful stretch alongside the river, where the terrain becomes more forgiving and the pace naturally settles. This is where the day really opens up — time to walk, chat, pause, snack, take photos and enjoy the simple rhythm of being on trail. Birdlife, flowing water and shaded forest create a calm and grounding atmosphere throughout the journey.
A special highlight is a visit to the iconic King Jarrah Tree, estimated to be over 300 years old. Standing quietly among the forest giants, it offers a powerful sense of perspective and connection to place, and a fitting moment of reflection during a longer day outdoors.
This hike is ideal for those who are comfortable on uneven trails and keen to build confidence with longer distances, without the pressure of a fast pace. Fully supported by experienced OTBT guides, you’ll be encouraged to walk at a pace that feels right for you while enjoying a rewarding day immersed in nature.
