Day 1: Dwellingup to Swamp Oak Campsite

Distance: 12.9km

Your multi-day hiking journey begins with the hilliest section of the hike—a strength-building ascent through the radiata pine forest that will test your fitness and determination early on. This shorter but tougher start is the perfect way to warm up your muscles and sharpen your mindset for the days ahead. Settle into the rhythm of the trail and embrace the challenge as you make your way to Swamp Oak Campsite for the night.

Day 2: Swamp Oak to Chadoora Campsite

Distance: 16.9km

With the steepest climbs behind you, this day focuses on sustained endurance and momentum as you move between two Bibbulmun Track campsites. The trail crosses Pinjarra-Williams Road, winds through a smooth-barked Sydney blue gum plantation, and leads you over a remnant railway line. The terrain is gently undulating, giving you the opportunity to put one foot in front of the other and listen to the rhythm of the trail while taking in the changing landscape.

Day 3: Chadoora Campsite to Dwellingup

Distance: 19.7km

Your final day is the longest but flattest stretch of the trek, requiring mental and physical endurance to power through to the finish line. Following old railway lines, you’ll pass through the historic Etmilyn and Holyoake sidings, where the Hotham Valley Tourist Railway still operates. The steady terrain allows for a strong, consistent pace, making this the perfect opportunity to push your limits, reflect on your journey, and finish strong as you return to Dwellingup.

This hiking tour is suited for intermediate hikers with a reasonable level of fitness looking to build endurance. The hike is on a mixture of single tracks and wider forestry tracks and does feature some steep hills. Please note you’ll be carrying all your gear for the three days in your backpack, so we recommend attending some of OTBT’s other Endurance Hikes for training.
