Every spring, Western Australia’s bushland bursts into colour as the Noongar seasons of Djilba and Kambarang awaken the Perth Hills with an incredible display of native wildflowers.

Join us for a relaxed 8km guided hike through the spectacular Ellis Brook Valley Reserve, one of Perth’s richest wildflower locations with more than 500 plant species recorded. During late winter and spring, the reserve transforms into a colourful wildflower wonderland… and we’ll take our time exploring it!

Our adventure winds through an ever-changing landscape, combining wider bush trails with narrower, more intimate tracks that weave through the reserve. We’ll tackle a few hills along the way, but the rewards are well worth the climb, with expansive views across the valley, Perth city and the coastal plain opening up around us.

This is a hike where slowing down is encouraged. We’ll pause to look beyond the obvious splashes of colour and search for the tiny treasures hiding amongst the undergrowth; delicate native orchids, thriving myrtle, seasonal wildflowers, buzzing native bees and the fascinating relationships that make this pocket of bushland so extraordinary. As the terrain changes, so too does the vegetation around us, giving us plenty to discover along the way.

One of the highlights of our Wildflower Wander is reaching the top of Sixty Foot Falls, where we’ll pause in a beautiful spot to enjoy our signature morning tea featuring native-inspired treats and botanical tea. It’s the perfect opportunity to rest the legs, connect with your fellow hikers and soak up the surrounding landscape.

From here, we’ll begin our descent alongside the waterfall. Following good winter rainfall, Sixty Foot Falls tumbles dramatically over the granite escarpment, and as we make our way down, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of the waterfall in all its glory.

Throughout the hike, your experienced Off The Beaten Track WA guide will share fascinating insights into the reserve’s wildflowers, geology, ecology, native wildlife and the seasonal changes happening all around us.

More than just a hike, this is an opportunity to slow down, look a little closer and experience the magic of wildflower season with a group of people who share the simple joy of being immersed in nature.

Come wander with us and experience Ellis Brook Valley Reserve in bloom.
