Experience a tranquil hike along the riverbanks of the Swan River from Bells Rapids, through Walyunga National Park to Syd’s Rapids as you enjoy the stunning scenery of the Pilgrim’s Trail.

From old bridges crossing the Swan River, to grassy riverbanks, rapids and cascades with large granite boulders through delightful wandoo woodlands, the Camino Salvado – Bells Rapids to Syds Rapids is certainly a very special hiking experience.

This incredibly scenic hike retraces the steps of Dom Rosendo Salvado, a Spanish Benedictine monk who walked from Perth to establish New Norcia. The full Camino Salvado is a pilgrimage that links the city with the bush, and the past to the future. The full 180 km walking trail starts in Subiaco WA and takes you on a journey to the Benedictine Monastery town of New Norcia,

Join us to experience a 13.5km hike along the Swan River from Bells Rapids to Syd’s Rapids and the delightful Avon River. A delicious morning tea with warm herbal tea overlooking Walyunga Pool will complete your Camino Salvado Experience.

Includes: 13.5 km guided hike, nutritious morning tea, complimentary use of hiking poles, sunscreen, repellent & access to all hike photographs.

What to Bring? Camera, water, snack, personal first aid, a good attitude and big smile!

Start Point: Bells Rapids, End of Cathedral Ave, Brigadoon. Drive past the toilet block on the right and keep going until you reach the gravel car park on the right. This is our meeting and departure point. Please arrive here by 6:45am ready for a prompt 7am start.

COVID-19 Measures: We encourage all hikers to keep a distance of 1.5m away from others and utilise the hand sanitizer available whilst on our hikes. If you are unwell, please stay at home, and we’ll do the same. If the sharing of food is still not deemed safe by this event start date, trail snacks will be provide as an alternative to gourmet morning tea.

Off The Beaten Track WA provide a trained and experienced Lead Guide and Tail Ender for our hikes. We carry two-way communication devices, a personal location beacon when phone signal is not available and we’re a fully licensed, insured and accredited Western Australian tourism business provide hiking and adventure experiences with a twist!

Booking and cancellation policy

No-shows and cancellations received within 48 hours of hike departure will incur a 100% cancellation fee. Cancellations received 48hrs – 1 week prior will incur a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations received 1 week + can have a full refund or credit towards another event. Customers can transfer their booking to a friend or family member with no penalty but must advise in writing so Off The Beaten Track WA can provide confirmation information to this individual. All bookings are made via Stripe or Paypal. Off The Beaten Track WA will incur the 2.9% + $0.30 transaction fees for the booking transaction. If a customer cancels their booking within the timeframes eligible for a full/part refund. Their refund amount will be minus the transaction fees of the original booking. If Off The Beaten Track WA cancels an event due to inclement weather you will be eligible to transfer amounts paid to another departure date or alternatively receive a full refund.
