The Bibbulmun Track is Western Australia’s very own world-class long distance trail! When you immerse yourself in the Bibbulmun beauty found in the Darling Ranges it is easy to see why this trail is so highly regarded!

Discover the Bibbulmun with Off The Beaten Track WA as we guide you on a 24km return hike from Perth Hills Discovery Centre in Mundaring to the newly rebuilt Helena Campsite! This section of the Bibbulmun starts off relatively gentle as you meander through recovering Jarrah/Marri forest leading you to Ball Creek Campsite. As you begin to descend deeper into the forest the trail becomes very lush with an abundance of large eucalyptus trees, bracken ferns, and grass trees. A change in foilage signifies you are near water as you enter Mann’s Gully. The thick undergrowth will lead you to a series of granite outcrops that overlook a Wandoo woodland nearby a creek – the perfect place to stop for some quiet contemplation!

Following Mann’s Gully the forest transitions into beautiful Wandoo woodlands which leads you to the start of the big ascent for the day up to Helena Campsite. Take a break from your ascent at the lookout and admire views over the Helena River Valley and Lake CY O’Connor before you head back into the forest for some more Wandoo before the steep descent down to Helena Campsite.

The Helena Campsite was re-opened on 28 June 2019 after being destroyed in a bushfire 18 months prior. This beautifully constructed shelter is made from rammed earth and offers impressive views as it overlooks the Helena River Valley! The perfect place to stop for lunch, admire the view and recharge before our 11.7km hike back to Mundaring!
