At OTBT, we’re passionate about providing exceptional hiking experiences and contributing to the community, and our recent partnership with the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research for their Tough Trek series was no exception.
As the sun started to rise, a mix of excitement filled the air. Our dedicated hikers, who had spent the last few months raising over $10,000 for the Harry Perkins Institute, gathered to kick off the trek. The money raised will support vital research into some of Australia’s toughest diseases, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and rare genetic disorders. It’s incredible to think about the impact these funds will have, bringing hope to so many.
We began our trek with a gentle start in John Forrest National Park. The serene environment offered a moment of calm before the challenge. As we hit the single track of the Eagle View Trail, the real adventure began. The weather was perfect, and the peaceful sounds of the bush made us feel miles away from civilisation, even though we were so close to it. This beautiful mix of nature and adventure is one of the things we feel makes OTBT treks so special.
Throughout the trek, our hikers kept up an impressive pace, their determination matched with smiles and lively chatter. The camaraderie was amazing, a true testament to the spirit of the event and the shared goal of supporting such a worthy cause. The last four kilometres were a gentle downhill, leading us to our finish line where a celebration awaited!
We were greeted with celebratory drinks and a well-deserved pizza picnic. It was the perfect end to an incredible day, filled with a sense of achievement and community.
Partnering with the Harry Perkins Institute for their Tough Treks series was a big deal for us. Known for our expertise in one-day treks, our professionalism, and our inclusive approach, we were thrilled to be part of this initiative.
